At our school, we understand spirituality as an ongoing reflective journey. It is not something we can see, but something we feel within ourselves. Rooted in the belief that every child is “wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14), spirituality is about experiencing awe and wonder—wonder at who we are, at the world around us, and at the mystery of something greater than ourselves.
Spirituality invites us to ask questions, seek understanding, and build relationships—with ourselves, with others, with the world, and with God. It encourages us to reflect deeply, to find inspiration, and to grow in our awareness of all that surrounds us.
We support and challenge our children spiritually, guiding them on a journey where they can flourish, shine, and discover a deeper understanding of their innermost being. In doing so, we prepare them for life's journey, helping them develop a sense of purpose and connection to something bigger, outside of ourselves.
Spirituality might be a sense there are important questions to be asked which might not have obvious answers. It might want us to laugh, cry, sing, be creative or be still.
Giving children opportunities to become aware of the world in new ways; to wonder about life’s ‘Wows’ (things that amaze) and ‘Ows’ (things that bring us up short). In this, children are learning about life in all its fullness.
We provide WINDOWS throughout our curriculum. Many of our lessons have an awe and wonder focus with a variety of stimuli, including photos, videos, music, current events and real-life stories.
Giving children opportunities to reflect on their experiences; to meditate on life’s big questions and to consider some possible answers. In this they are learning from life by exploring their own insights and perspectives of others.
There are a range of opportunities within our curriculum and school life that offer a variety of MIRRORS for the children to reflect on the world in different, deeper ways. We ensure that children are able to ask and discuss bigger questions and consider their own ideas and beliefs. Through RE lessons, children are asked to reflect on their learning about religion to help them learn from religion, regardless of whether they have a specific faith.
Giving children opportunities to respond to all of this; to do something creative as a means of expressing, applying and further developing their thoughts and convictions. In this they are learning to live by putting into action what they are coming to believe and value.
Children often identify DOORS for themselves. They may hear of a local issue or an international event and request to take action, through fund raising and raising awareness.

• Through our school vision of ‘Flourish and Shine in all that we do’, we celebrate the uniqueness of every children while we work to support and challenge them. We support them to flourish and shine in all they do, preparing them for life’s journey.
