We went on our school trip on Friday the 15th November. We are going to tell you all about it.
First, we had a chat in the classroom so we would know what we were doing that day. We were talking about postholes and how clothes were made in the Iron Age. It was pretty interesting.
Next, we went outside and we made flour and learned that it would take at least 3 days to quern the seeds to make a slice of bread. It was a lot of hard work. Then, we got a piece of bread and cooked it over he open fire - don’t worry the smoke didn’t hurt anybody.
We then went on a walk around Wandlebury and it was really fascinating. We went over a bride, built in Roman times, then through a forest around wandlebury through 100 year old trees, maybe even older. We also collected stickers on paper slips on the way. The lady also showed us some incredible landmarks.
Finally, we made wooden fences out of willow branches. We had to choose some really bendy thin ones otherwise they would snap just like that. We were with partners and made one each. Then we went back to school on the coach.
What a lovely fun day out for all of Leylands children.
